THE STORY:

Lord Dimsey is making his household miserable.  He will not allow any ‘unsuitable’ matches, so Pete’s romance with Tilly is doomed, and Pete’s cousin, Bingo has no hope of wooing Jenny, the housemaid.  Furthermore, Lord Dimsey hates Christmas and will allow no traditional festivities.  The only Christmas Spirit in the house is Mary Fairfax, the resident ghost, so called because she drowned herself on Christmas Eve, and she is still causing heartache because Bingo’s brother, Bertie, is obsessed with her.

Pete’s young brother, Cedric, is also in a foul mood as his cat, Fang, was run over two weeks ago.  However, Cedric is resolved to do something about his problem, and having invented a time machine, he decides to set it for five minutes before Fang died and pull his cat back into the present.  Unfortunately, at the critical moment, Max the Ho Hum Husky, spots the ghost cat and gives chase, and in the process he knocks the time machine dial back to 1645.  Instead of retrieving Fang, Cedric finds himself bringing Mary Fairfax into the present, whereupon the ghost Mary is most annoyed to find her embodied self present in the house.

In the chaos that ensues, Cedric, with help from Max, Brandy and Minx finds a way to eliminate the ghosts, and Mudrake, the butler enlists the necessary help to reform Lord Dimsey.  Finally, Dimsey Hall is filled with the proper Christmas Spirit and all live happily ever after.

**The Christmas Spirit is a lively marionette musical, 65 minutes in length, and is suitable for school-aged children to adults.
